Ideas and Resources for Teachers
·Use our prepared curriculum to obtain lesson ideas that will help you bring your Pennies for Peace learning to life.
·Use the pennies you collect to illustrate math, science, history, civics, current events, geography, writing and art. For example, have students calculate how many pennies equal the earth’s circumference or write Pennies for Peace poems.
·Ask children to share stories about where they found pennies (piggy bank, ground, car, etc.).
·Make a progress chart and post it where students can see it. For example, a bar graph showing the amount collected each week provides a meaningful visual aid without being oriented toward a particular monetary goal.
Our links page provides more ideas and information to incorporate the message of Pennies for Peace into your regular curriculum.
